Las Animas Helping Hands

A 100% volunteer non-profit feeding 1 in 4 families in Las Animas.

We hand out food every Monday from 9-10:30 am (10-12pm every second Monday). Join us!

We work with Las Animas Municipal Utilities (LAMU) and other energy providers to offer relief to qualifying households. To apply:

  1. Apply for LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program) before seeking assistance from Helping Hands – Download the form below.
  2. Contact Helping Hands if you have a energy provider other than LAMU
  3. Complete the application – Download the forms below.
  4. Gather required documents – You must provide:
    • A valid ID
    • A copy of your utility bill
  5. Submit your application
    • Drop it off at Las Animas Municipal Utilities (LAMU): 532 Carson Ave. Las Animas, CO 81054
    • Mail it to Las Animas Helping Hands: P.O. Box 576 Las Animas, CO 81054
    • Contact us if your energy provider is not LAMU

Mission Statement

To provide for the emergency needs of individuals and families living in Bent County, Colorado and the surrounding area.

Helping Hands is a faith-based, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of caring people, we are a 100% volunteer-run organization. Our goals are to prevent the disconnection of utility services; provide emergency food and prescriptions while networking with other agencies; and provide free budgeting classes to help applicants become self sufficient.
